ooni

community guidelines

ooni works because people talk honestly about their real student life. these guidelines keep it that way. they apply to everyone, everywhere on ooni — videos, profiles, chats and calls.

be real

talk about your own experience, in your own words. if something is your opinion, say so. don't exaggerate, don't invent, don't repeat things you haven't lived. people are making big decisions partly based on what you tell them — that's the whole point, and it only works if it's true.

respect people

everyone on ooni deserves to feel welcome. be kind, be patient, and remember the person on the other side is probably nervous about a big move.

zero tolerance

some things get you removed immediately — no warnings, no second chances:

  • racism, xenophobia, or discrimination of any kind — nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, anything
  • harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation or hate speech
  • sexual content, sexual solicitation, nudity, or any romantic or sexual approach to another user
  • promoting anything illegal, violent, or harmful — including self-harm
  • deliberately false or misleading information
  • anything involving minors — ooni is strictly 18+

keep it on ooni

all chats and calls happen through ooni, and all payments go through ooni. don't share or ask for phone numbers, personal emails, social handles or messaging apps, and don't take payments outside the platform.

this isn't us being controlling — it's what keeps conversations safe, recorded where they should be, and everyone protected if something goes wrong.

respect what's not yours to share

don't share other people's private information, confidential details about your school or employer, or anyone else's face or voice without their clear permission.

see something wrong?

report it. email safety@ooni.education with what you saw and where — a screenshot helps. we review every report, and reporting is always confidential.

what happens when rules are broken

depending on what happened: content gets removed, accounts get warned, suspended or permanently removed. zero-tolerance behaviour means immediate permanent removal. we may also involve authorities where the law requires it.

the fine print

these guidelines are the friendly version of the conduct rules in our terms and conditions, which are what legally applies. how we handle your data is in our privacy policy.
